Here we are driving either in Belgium or the Netherlands or Germany....GPS was a little confused and I was a little confused since I always thought you crossed a dotted line, not drove down the middle of it...hmmm.
Then we made a turn and somehow ended up in a Colorado suburb...wierd.
Then we got stuck behind circus trucks setting up in town. That were not moving any time soon. GPS recalculating....
Finally we ended up along the Rhine. Here is where all the castle craziness starts. We stayed in Koblenz for the night. First we went to explore the town. Well, we thought it was just a small town, but it's actually a rather large town.
Mum being a geek, no surprise ;)
Now there are a lot of wierd things that you see in Germany, but what kid anywhere picks sunny-side up eggs for a gummy candy choice? Nein, danke.
These two guys serenaded us at dinner (italian, again, shocking) w/ some 60/70's easy rock.
Koblenz is at the corner of the Rhine River and the Mosel River. This is the sunset over the Mosel.
And this is the view from our hotel balcony looking south down the Rhine.
Looking across to the city.
Dad looking quite mafioso
Either she loves him or saw the large spiders on the balcony.
Fun with Gggggs
What an echo looks like.
The hotel had lots of great art in the hallways. This made up for the rule that stated "windows open, lights off. windows closed, lights on" to keep the bugs out. It's a bit wierd to hang out in a hotel room in the dark. Especially with your parents. This could be why American hotels have both screens and air conditioning.
These two pieces are by Christian Zsagar. Zsagar is a sexciting name.
The next morning we started down the Mosel for a bit to see two castles than headed back to Koblenz to go down the Rhine. It was shocking how many castles, burgs and towers there were. Every bend there was something new and cool to see.
Then we stopped in St.Goar to eat lunch, but first we explored their Castle.
The view to the north of the next castle. So close so that they could signal to each other.
And the other castle looking to the south...
And old turet w/ the stairs gone.
One of the cavers. Is that dust or an orb...hmmm.
Dad going down the stairs backwards....they were small and steep,
Dad in the huge banquet room size cold cellar for storing food stuffs.
Main Street St.Goar...see the castle center top?
Back on the road...
Finally heading back to the Berg! Home sweet home.
