Mum's Mini Euro Road Trip - Part 6 Zurich

We arrived in Zurich Friday night and met two of my friends out for dinner, Alex and Peter. The next day we walked around in the morning and then took a city tour in the afternoon. On the way home that night we stopped at Alex and Peter's where I scored a free tv. Alex just moved down to Zurich from Nurnberg to join Peter and didn't need her tv anymore. Sweet. So we moved the luggage round and found room for a tv. Zurich was by far my favorite city on the trip. It's a full international city w/ all that brings, but then has a huge lake where you can't see it end, and the mountains are literally out the back door. City and rural living in one. Perfect. Plus it's a beautiful and clean city. Added to my places to live list :)

Zurich in the am....

Great craft oriented shop w/ kids stuff, jewelry, bags, etc. Loved the multi-colored mocasins, but they didn't have any in my size.

One of the cool things about Zurich is the great creative/art/design scene.

A banana chandelier - yes, please.

Another cool thing is that we saw tons of dad's with kids out in the morning. Apparently in Zurich mums get Saturday morning off.

What a great balcony

When you can't eat it, making it into art is just as satisfying

How much is that doggy in the window?

First stop of the tour brought us to the lake to west side of the lake, called the Silver Coast since it gets less sun and can be slightly cooler. From this vantage point we're south west of downtown. This view is towards downtown.

Then we drove around to the east side of the lake, called the Gold Coast due to the extra sun it gets throughout the day. We then took a ferry back to the Silver Coast.
Old Volvo - for your viewing pleasure Chris

After the Ferry we took a gondola ride up the mountain. Here's the view from the top of downtown Zurich.

Rooftop bbq at sunset.

Back in the 'berg on Sunday
My mum and I went to brunch at Ziet und Raum with some of the girls that I hang out with in Nurnberg.
