Eastern Europe Roadtrip #5 Ljubljana..

After ohhing and aahhing in Piran, it was off to Slovenia's capital, Ljubljana, just an hour away from the coast.  At first sight it reminded both of us of Portland, Oregon, which makes sense as Slovenia is called Europe's outdoor adventure capital. 

 

Of course there is a Wild West Saloon in downtown Ljubljana.

 

After getting settled in our space station cubical of a hotel room, we in Kara & Susie fashion, found a Mexican restaurant.  With all these straws and stirrers how can you decide how to decorate your drink!

 

Whhhaaaat?  Enough food to feed an army.

Back down in the super cute city center.

 

The whole river front is lined with cafes, willows, and bars.  Super cute.  If we weren't exhausted the night before it looked like a great city for a night out.  Better shopping than Nurnberg and people of adult age out and about w/ live music everywhere.  Def a good place for a weekend adventure w/ a crew.

 

If you go to Ljubljana, go here for some amazing deserts. 

 

Then the ride home back to Nurnberg through the hills of Slovenia and Austria.  Amazing landscape.

Eastern Europe Roadtrip #4 Piran!!!

After wrapping things up in Croatia, we decided to take a detour on our way to Slovenia's capital and stop at Piran.  Piran is a coastal city in Slovenia that used to be part of the Veneitian Empire - clear from the winged lion branding all through the city and the Italian style architecture and is about 10k from the Italian boarder.  It was the most beautiful place I've seen in real life.  How this city is not talked about everywhere, I do not know.  We stayed for lunch and then decided to jump in for a swim.  Unbelievable warm water, clear to the bottom and pure bliss.  Go back again, yes please.
