I learned how to fix a bike tire!

My bike, which I LOVE and use all the time here, got a flat back in June, but due to all the traveling and running amuck I hadn't been able to get it fixed. A lot of the guys here are 'bike' guys, so Tom R gave me his bike repair kit, a youtube video link and said I could do it myself.

Watched the video and felt prepared, but what should have taken 10 min took 2hrs. The bolts holding the tire together were completely jammed and my wretch is a bit ghetto. After the men in the cafe downstairs watched me struggle with it for about an hr, they finally came out and gave me one of their tools. Then it took 2 minutes to get it off. In the end, it wasn't the tire at all, but a faulty valve.....arrrrrr.
But, I learned a new skill and am now inspired to build my own roadbike so I can start doing triathalons as a winter project. We'll see if that gets off the ground - i'm already struggling between a color story...purple or hott pink?!

You must have front lights, back lights and a bell to ride a bike in Germany. Also, bikers are considered the same as cars, so you have to follow all the road signs. Break driving laws and you can get the same penalty.
My bike lights are powered by my tires.

Extremely dirty hands.

Ripped apart knuckles, thank you lame bolt and lame wrench. Knuckles and bike spokes are not friends.
Nail job destroyed.

And did I mention I did all of this post pool trip still in the bikini (+sun dress of course!). I had to walk all the way to the pool and was not pleased upon my return - so immediate bike repair was necessary since it was going to be +30 the next day too!
